Ultimate Spider-Man is an American animated television series based on the Spider-Man comics, written by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, and published by Marvel Comics. Despite its title, it is not an adaptation of Ultimate Marvel's (later known as the Ultimate Comics) storylines. The series is written by Brian Michael Bendis (who writes the Ultimate Spider-Man comic book series, which the series loosely adapts) and Paul Dini, as well as Man of Action Studios (consisting of Steven T. Seagle, Joe Kelly, Joe Casey, and Duncan Rouleau) for the first and second seasons.

Ultimate Spider-Man was first announced in 2010, and was originally slated to be released some time in Fall 2011 before it was pushed back to 2012.[1][2] The series debuted on April 1, 2012 as part of Disney XD's "Marvel Universe" programming block. Following the acquisition of the third and fourth seasons, the series has been retitled as Ultimate Spider-Man: Web Warriors and Ultimate Spider-Man vs. the Sinister Six to represent the main storylines in their respective seasons. The series shares a loose continuity with Avengers Assemble, Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H., and Guardians of the Galaxy.[3]
